ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The Book of Jeff started as a tongue-in-cheek joke while teaching business development classes worldwide. Jeff Novak would teach principles, processes and associated tools and then share "war stories", tips, and tricks learned over 17 years of "in the trenches" work bidding on national, state, and international contracts.

After classes, someone would invariably come up and ask where they could buy The Book of Jeff and were shocked to find out there wasn't one. After years of encouragement and a strong "nudge" from a high placed executive in a large international firm, Jeff set to putting pen to paper. After three years, The Book of Jeff was born!

Jeff Novak has a degree in music performance and was a professional trumpeter for many years, including performing in Washington DC's United States Air Force Band. He left the band after deciding to become an officer to obtain a better position for retirement and to care for a growing family.

Jeff retired in 2000 after 23 years of service and began his journey in business development.  He's held positions as a technical writer, proposal manager, senior proposal manager, senior capture manager and senior trainer for Shipley Associates.
